Finally I'm looking at buying my own table. With all of these new options aka Storm, Storm 2, Whirlwind, Cyclone and Cyclone 2 I want to make sure I'm buying the correct one. Is the Cyclone 2 the standard for tournament tables?

I've been working in Fresno, CA and they don't have shit for tables around here. If I end up moving here I really need to get my own to keep the rust off.

If you play, or want to play in a lot of tournaments, I would get a coin op. I agree with playing on something you are comfortable with, but I feel you should practice on what you'll be playing on at tournaments. Most local tournaments will probably be using the T-2000,s. The 2008 T-2000 (silver) seem to play just fine as well. They had them at the Holloween Open and I liked them. I do have to say they seemed a lot slicker and faster though. I don't know if it was because they were brand and I'm used to something a little more broken in or what.

The big complaint about the tables was that the bearings were not recessed properly. That allowed a little extra space between the wall and the guy on the 3 rod. If you do a wall series when passing from the 5-rod to 3-rod, (if you are reading this then I assume you don't just hunt and peck and therefor have some wall series) then the ball can easily squib through the three rod even when pinned to the wall. Supposedly this is getting fixed, but I figure it probably isn't that difficult to doctor it up yourself so it works fine. I say if you are playing in tournaments practice on a tourney table, you really can feel the weight difference in the legs and coin mechanism when you play. weird but true.

Did they do something to fix the Holloween Open tables? I am a stick passer with a pretty hard wall pass and didn't notice the ball sliding past the 3 man. I know there were problems with some of the guys and they had to do some filing on them. Then again, if you are a brush passer, there is some pretty intense front spin on a wall pass after the ball hits the guy.
