We have talked about using NETFOOS to try to establish some sort of points system for WI players, and whenever the subject of points is talked about it's usually met with nothing but negativity... however with that in mind I picked up where Adam/Myles have left off and have entered in as many tournaments as I can get my hands on to try to give us some sort of base to begin ranking Wisconsin Foosers differently than the national rankings, which are currently IFP.

These are called the UNOFFICIAL points because at this time the WIFOOS committee has not yet got together and met to further discuss this, it was a project I picked up on to help better seed the 2013 Spring Bash tournament for our Open Singles and Open Doubles events.

It is our hope that over the course of 2013 we can meet as a group and try to further nail this down, but let's be real - it will never be 100% accurate and will never please everyone.

The more tournaments I can get brackets from over the past couple years, the more accurate we can try to make these rankings.

The points are calculated using your IFP points as a base, and then the ELO system is implemented based on the tournaments in the system. At this point I'm not sure how accurate it all is, but it's better than having nothing, and I feel that it helped greatly when running the 2013 Spring Bash.

Please remember that as far as the first posting is concerned, it's based off of the tournaments that I could get my hands on. Just because results are posted somewhere doesn't mean that's enough data for me to add to the system, I need to see the full finished bracket.

Hmm, maybe the fact that I haven't played in a tournament in over 5 years might speak to the actual IFP rankings being waaaay off...

Way to go Brett. I definitely no longer have time for this while attending school more than full time and working 40+ hrs a week. I know what a task it can be. Just keep in mind that if we ever intend on running an IFP sanctioned event we need to keep the IFP points to use for seeding no matter how far off they are. I know my intention was to use the WiFoos points for the local non-IFP events. While still trying to keep up to date with the IFP points incase we do finally get a chance to run it according to IFP rules.
